We have the information that the EUF 1/2020 will be held on the internet on 06/01 with results being released on 06/04, which allows its use in our selection process. If the EUF 1/2020 date is postponed, we will modify the registration The selection process for the Masters course in the area of Applied and
DOCTORATE DEGREE As described in the Regular Notice 2020/2 in item 2.3: “If the vacancies for the Doctorate are not filled in the selection dealt with in this Notice, in the judgment of the Program Collegiate, there may be selection in a continuous flow regime, for admission during the academic year 2020”. Thus, the selection for the Doctorate 2020/2 will follow the same selection rules for the Master 2020/2. MASTER See the announcement for the selection for the Master (2020/2), below:
The quota for Master’s scholarships in the Program will be allocated to the areas of concentration in Physics and Astrophysics. Master students in the area of concentration in Applied and Interdisciplinary Physics have the possibility of having a scholarship obtained by the advisor. REGISTRATION IN THE PG PROGRAM IN PHYSICS AT UFMG (2nd semester of 2020): from May 25 to June 12, 2020. Of the Vacancies: 45 (forty-five) vacancies will be offered for the Master’s course for admission in the second academic semester of 2020. In compliance with Resolution nº 02/2017, of April 4, 2017, of the Teaching, Research and Extension Council from UFMG, which provides for the UFMG Affirmative Action Policy, 15 vacancies will be reserved for self-declared black candidates. The areas of concentration of the Graduate Program in Physics are: “Physics”; “Astrophysics”; and “Applied and Interdisciplinary Physics”. Candidates for Doctorate and Master’s degrees in the areas of Physical and Astrophysical concentration must present, in addition to the documentation described in item 3.1, the following documents: Masters candidates in the area of Applied and Interdisciplinary Physical Concentration must present, in addition to the documentation described in item 3.1, the following documents: Candidates with disabilities and / or specific needs must indicate, on the application form, the special conditions necessary for their participation in this competition. The registration approval will be announced on June 15, 2020 on the program website.
TEST DATES: First step. For PhD and Masters candidates in the areas of Physical or Astrophysical Concentration: Unified Physics Exam, of an eliminatory nature (Expected completion of EUF 1-2020 on June 1, with result on June 4). The candidate’s grade will be calculated from the grade obtained in the Unified Physics Exam in any of its last five editions (EUF 2018-2, EUF 2-2018, EUF 1-2019, EUF 2-2019 or EUF 1-2020) multiplied by 50 and divided by the average exam score in the same edition. For candidates for the Masters in the area of Applied and Interdisciplinary Physics concentration: Examination in Applied and Interdisciplinary Physics (EFAI), edition 2020-1, of an eliminatory character. In this case, the candidate’s grade in this stage will be equal to the grade obtained in that exam. The candidate who obtains less than 40 points in this stage will be eliminated from the Selection Process. The results of this stage will be announced on June 17, 2020, on the website of the Graduate Program in Physics. Only candidates approved in this stage will be evaluated in the next stage. The grade obtained in this stage will not be computed in the final average for the selection of the candidate. FIRST STEP RESULT – Masters in the area of Applied and Interdisciplinary Physics concentration Second stage. Analysis of curriculum vitae and school history, followed by an oral argument about the pre-project or research project and about knowledge pertinent to the candidate’s academic and professional experience, described in the pre-project or project presented, of an eliminatory and classificatory character. Oral arguments will be made by videoconference and specific dates and times will be informed to candidates by email until June 19, 2020. Oral arguments will be made from June 22 to July 03, 2020. The result this stage will be published on July 7, 2020 on the website of the Graduate Program. This stage will be assigned a score from 0 to 100 points, computed by the weighted average of the curriculum vitae analysis scores, with weight 1 (one), school history, weight 1 (one) and the oral argument, weight 2 ( two). The candidate who scores less than 60 points in this stage will be eliminated from the Selection Process.

SECOND STAGE RESULT – Masters in the area of Applied and Interdisciplinary Physics concentration Third stage. Written test of knowledge of English, eliminatory. Candidates must take a written test of knowledge of English, which will be awarded a grade from 0 to 100 points. This test will be held remotely, via the internet, and prepared in accordance with Resolution No. 08/2008 of the UFMG Teaching, Research and Extension Council. To be approved in this stage, the candidate must obtain an income equal to or higher than 60 points. The written test of knowledge of English will be held on July 9, 2020, from 9:00 am to 11:00 am. On the same date, between 1:00 pm and 3:00 pm, foreign candidates, except native speakers of Portuguese-speaking countries, must also take a written test of knowledge of the Portuguese language, which will be awarded a score of 0 to 100 points. To be approved in this stage, the foreign candidate must obtain an income equal to or higher than 60% of the points. The grade obtained in this stage will not be computed in the final average for the selection of the candidate, but it is a requirement for admission to the courses. FINAL RESULT– Masters in the area of Applied and Interdisciplinary Physics concentration The final grade of each candidate who participated in all stages of the selection process will be equal to his grade in the 2nd stage. In the dissemination of the final result, the candidates for the Doctorate and Master in the areas of Physical and Astrophysical concentration and the Master in the area of Applied and Interdisciplinary Physical concentration will be ordered, in different lists for wide competition and self-declared black optants, by the decreasing sequence of the scores obtained , according to the distribution of vacancies, indicating the result as follows: “Approved and Classified”, “Approved, but not Classified” or “Failed”. Approved and classified candidates will be admitted, in decreasing order of the final grade determined up to, at most, the number of vacancies available in this Public Notice for the Master’s Degree and in the Public Notice for the Doctorate 2020/1. UFMG PHYSICS PG PROGRAM REGISTRATION (1st semester of 2020): from November 4th to November 22nd, 2019. Venue: Secretariat of the Postgraduate Program in Physics, in person or by mail (ONLY email). Of the vacancies: 35 (Thirty-five) vacancies will be offered for the Master’s degree and 60 (sixty) vacancies for the Doctorate course for the first semester of 2020. In compliance with Resolution 02/2017, of April 04 The 2017 UFMG Teaching, Research and Extension Council, which provides for the UFMG Affirmative Action Policy, will reserve 10 Master’s and 18 Doctoral candidates for self-declared black candidates. The Ethnic-Racial Self-Declaration and the option to reserve vacancies must be made upon registration in the form available on the Program website and at the Program Secretariat. Candidates must choose one of the following modalities: wide competition or reservation of vacancies for blacks, that is, the candidate is forbidden to enroll in more than one type of competition provided for in this Notice. Opponents to participate in the selection process in the vacancy reservation mode for self-declared black candidates will compete exclusively for reserved vacancies, except in the case except in item 6.6 of this announcement. For this step, the candidate’s grade will be calculated from the grade obtained in the Unified Physics Exam in any of its five editions (EUF 2018-1, EUF 2018-2, EUF 2-2018, EUF 1-2019 or EUF 2 -2019) multiplied by 50 and divided by the average exam grade in the same semester in which the candidate took it. The candidate who achieves less than 50 points in this stage will be eliminated from the Selection Process. The result of this phase will be announced on November 27, 2019, on the web page and notice board of the Graduate Program in Physics Secretariat. Only successful candidates in this step will be evaluated in the next step. SECOND STAGE. Analysis of curriculum vitae and school history, followed by oral argument about the research pre-project and knowledge relevant to the candidate’s academic and professional experience, described in the pre-project presented, of an eliminatory and classificatory character. The specific locations and dates of oral arguments will be informed to applicants by November 29, 2019. Oral arguments will be held from December 2 to 10, 2019. The outcome of this stage will be announced on December 12, 2019, on the web page and notice board of the Postgraduate Program Secretariat. This stage will be given a score from 0 to 100 points, computed by the weighted average of the grades of curriculum vitae analysis, weighing 1 (one), transcripts, weighting 1 (one) and oral argument, weighting 2 ( two). The candidate who gets less than 60 points in this stage will be eliminated from the Selection Process.For Masters and Doctoral candidates, the following will be evaluated in the curriculum vitae analysis: participation in events (with or without presentation of papers), undergraduate and postgraduate courses completed or being completed, professional experience, internships, monitoring, scientific initiations, time and training trajectory, awards, etc. This item will be worth 100 points. For Masters and PhD candidates, the concepts (grades) obtained and the number of undergraduate and eventually postgraduate courses will be evaluated in the school history analysis, valuing the most advanced subjects in the school. In the oral argument for Master and Doctorate candidates will give a brief description of the area that intends to carry out their research and their academic and professional career, according to what was exposed in the pre-research project, including any Master’s degree, internships, scientific or technological initiation, monitoring, scholarships and other pertinent activities, being argued by the Selection Committee on the physical basis of the topics covered in these activities. This item will be worth 100 points. ORAL ARGUTION TIME – DOUTORADO ORAL ARGUTION TIME – MESTRADO STEP THREE. Written test of English language, eliminatory character. Candidates for the Master and Doctorate must take a written test of English knowledge, which will be awarded a score of 0 to 100 points. This test will be prepared in accordance with Resolution No. 08/2008 of the UFMG Teaching, Research and Extension Council. To pass this step, the candidate must earn 60% or more of the points. The written test of English will be held on December 17, 2019, from 9:00 to 11:00 hours. On the same date, from 13:00 to 15:00 hours, foreign candidates, except native speakers of Portuguese-speaking countries, must also take a written test of knowledge of the Portuguese language, which will be given a grade of 0. at 100 points. To pass this stage, the foreign candidate must earn 60% or more of the points. The grade obtained in this step will not be computed in the final average for selection of the candidate, but is required for entry into the courses. The period of appeal against the final result is 10 (ten) calendar days, pursuant to the University’s General Rules and Resolution No. 13/2010, of November 11, 2010, from the University Council of UFMG and should be done in the program secretariat in person or by proxy, provided by simple power of attorney, counted from the date of disclosure of the decision content, by its posting in public and visible place.
