João Francisco Coelho dos Santos Jr.
Possui doutorado em ciências pela Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (1994) e estágios de pós-doutorado na Ohio State University (EUA) e no Telescópio SOAR (Chile). É professor associado da Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais. Tem experiência na área de populações estelares, atuando principalmente nos seguintes temas: estrutura, dinâmica e evolução de aglomerados de estrelas; estrutura e história de formação estelar da Via Láctea e das Nuvens de Magalhães.
